Description

 

Vermiculite is a natural inorganic silicate mineral, produced by a certain amount of granite hydration (usually produced simultaneously with asbestos), shaped like mica. The main producing countries of vermiculite are China, Russia, South Africa, the United States, etc. Vermiculite can be divided into vermiculite flakes and expanded vermiculite according to the stage, and also can be divided into golden vermiculite, silver vermiculite, and milky white vermiculite according to the color. After high-temperature calcination, the volume of raw vermiculite can rapidly expand by 6 to 20 times.

The expanded vermiculite has a layered structure and a specific gravity of 60-180kg/m3. It has strong insulation and good electrical insulation properties, with a maximum usage temperature of 1100°C. Expanded vermiculite is widely used in industries such as insulation materials, fire-resistant materials, seedling cultivation, flower planting, tree planting, friction materials, sealing materials, electrical insulation materials, coatings, plates, paints, rubber, refractory materials, hard water softeners, smelting, construction, shipbuilding, chemistry, etc...
